Bettie Page passed away yesterday (April 22, 1923 - December 11, 2008).
She is one of my icons, because of her unashamed nudity, her sweetness and the playful way she presented erotica. I love her fly dark look, and of course the bangs.
She always presented herself and her nudity in a proud and easy-going way. Even in the pictures by Paula and Irving Klaw, she gave off a scent of playfulness and humor. In a time and culture of uptight morality she acted naturally and open-minded.
"I want to be remembered as I was when I was young and in my golden times. . . . I want to be remembered as the woman who changed people’s perspectives concerning nudity in its natural form."
