Like an apple on a tree Hiding out behind the leaves I was difficult to reach But you picked me Like a shell upon a beach Just another pretty piece I was difficult to see But you picked me Yeah you picked me
So softly Rain against the windows And the strong coffee Warming up my fingers In this fisherman's house You got me Searched the sand And climbed the tree And brought me back down
Ban.do have launched Black Label, a one-of-a-kind/haute couture line, of their head adornment collection. *sigh* I want all the pieces!!! And I want long red hair again, like this fairy... isn't she stunning?!
Self-portraits with Juergen Teller and the incredible beautiful Charlotte Rampling for the book Louis XV. She is one of my icons: bold, beautiful (showing that sexiness and beauty has nothing to do with age, but with your mindset), not afraid of taking risks, showing her erotically side, even the dark ones... yes she is incomparable! A hotel room, passion, decadence, sex and debauchery... “Charlotte arrived, and I was totally starting to sweat. She said, Now what are we going to do? I said, I’m going to show you what I’m going to wear. So I went into the bedroom, and I came out in these silver underpants. And she said, What the hell is that? I was smoking my cigarette, breaking out in a sweat. I said, Well, I was just thinking I could kiss you and fondle your breasts. She sat down and got herself a cigarillo. She didn’t say anything. The whole room was quiet for what seemed like months. I was, like, Oh my God, that is the most stupid thing I’ve ever said, how stupid was that? She just dragged on the cigarillo and crossed her legs, and she said: OK, let’s go. I’ll tell you when to stop. I thought, Oh my God, genius. I can’t believe I’m getting away with it.” A Cabaret scene from the movie "The night-porter" 1974, with a young Charlotte
And a scene from the film "Heading South" 2005, about female sexuality, male prostitution and the "north-south"-conflict.
Tony Duquette is one of my big heroes. He was gifted with an incredible talent and sparkling creative energy. He was a stage- and interior-designer, he made costumes and jewelry, and he created homes in Malibu I would die to live in. I love, love, love the colors and the opulence... more is more, indeed!!! I found those fashion pictures via "The Glamourai". You can find the whole Steven Meisel photo-shoot here. This fantastic place is Duquettes first hide-away called "Sortilegium" (enchantment).
Catherine Baba: a fashion icon, a stylist, an inspiration. Love her mixture of 30's glamour, oriental opulence, 80's decadence and her bold attitude. More about her styling-work here. How couldn't I simply adore this? With killer-heels, turban, fur and diva glasses on her bike through rainy Paris.
Raw and elegant... skulls, bones and poems... ancient and modern: Bjorg Jewelry! "it's not the number of breaths you take it's the number of moments that takes your breath away" Nordic Fusion Shop
Wayne Coyne, singer and creative force behind The Flaming Lips, and his wife, live and work in this funky house.... I'm jealous! Yes:"appropriately quirky”!
André de Dienes loved the nude female body in nature. He made beautiful pictures bursting of life. André de Dienes was one of the first photographers who discovered Miss Norma Jeane as a fantastic model. I think his pictures are some of the most beautiful, natural and sexy pictures of Marilyn Monroe.
A documentary about the beautiful actress Mimi Weddel. That's how I want to enjoy life, when I am at that age!!! Another great blog about originality and beauty of people, who with age advanced their personal style, is: Advanced Style. There you will find true fashion icons!
I love Alex Kanevsky's paintings!!! How he works with light, intimations, color and bodies. What would you say to an artist just starting out? Build up you self esteem to the level that might seem unwarranted. This will help you ignore both positive and negative responses to your paintings. Both are usually misguided, since they come from the outside. Be your most severe and devastating critic, while never doubting that you are the best thing since sliced bread. The moment something works well and is under control - is the time to give it up and try something else. Put all your eggs in one basket. Precarious situations produce intense results. Forget subjective, it is mostly trivial. Go for the universal.
"That’s a popular notion—that it is exclusively suffering that produces good work or insightful work. I don’t think that’s the case. I think in a certain sense it’s a trigger or a leaver…but I think that good work is produced in spite of suffering and as a response—as a victory over suffering."
