Alexaner Calder (1898-1976) is known for a widerange of art work, from inc-drawings to kitchen utensils. Especially his radically new sculptures we know as mobiles and stabiles made him famous in the 1930s.
An exhibition, i would love to see, about his jewelry work is now taking place at Metropolitan Museum in New York.He did more than a thousand pieces, which he sold or gave away as gifts:Calder’s wife, Louisa, received hundreds of his jewelry pieces throughout their marriage. Other recipients included Georgia O’Keefe, Peggy Guggenheim and the wives of his friends and fellow artists such as Duchamp, Miro and Chagall.
